Big names lining up FLYDSA Arena’s new event season

FLYDSA Arena is gearing up for another busy programme of events over coming months as the venue’s 2019/2020 season gets underway.
September sees the Arena’s new event season launch in style with five ice hockey fixtures from resident Ice Hockey team Sheffield Steelers, multiplatinum superstar Ariana Grande performing The Sweetener World Tour on Thursday 19 December and comedian Russell Howard’s Respite stand-up World Tour, which will be the comedian’s fifth appearance at the FlyDSA Arena on Saturday 28 September.
Throughout the rest of 2019 there will be a further thirteen ice hockey fixtures, seven nights of the Marvel Universe LIVE! and nine Disney On Ice presents 100 Years of Magic shows, two sold out Little Mix shows and a concerts from Liam Gallagher. December then sees four performances of Mrs Bown’s Boys and award-winning comedian, actor and writer Jack Whitehall’s Stood-Up Tour followed by the 25th Anniversary of the World’s best Indoor Trials riders in their only UK indoor competition. Final show of 2019 will be a real Christmas treat for all the family when David Walliams' number one bestselling children’s book Grandpa’s Great Escape is brought to life for three performances on the 29 December.
FlyDSA Arena is the region’s largest indoor premier entertainment venue with a multi-purpose auditorium accommodating audiences from 3,000 to over 13,600. The Arena is operated by SIV, which is part of the not-for-profit Sheffield City Trust, and also looks after the city’s premier concert hall, Sheffield City Hall.
Sheffield City Hall is also preparing for a packed programme of events, starting with a tremendous autumn of comedy including shows from Romesh Ranganathan, Tim Minchin, Eddie Izzard, Frank Skinner and Ruby Wax.
Classical series, the Sheffield International Concert Season also returns for its 86th year with orchestral concerts from Flanders Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lille and the City Hall’s resident orchestra The Hallé.
In addition to this, unique musical voices include chart topper James Arthur, Hozier, Beverley Knight singing the songs of Stevie Wonder, Squeeze with Sheffield favourites Heaven 17, An Evening with Will Young, James Morrison and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra rounding up a stunning array of performers taking to the City Hall stage.
