Theatre Takes To The Stage at Invictus UK Trials

17 June 2019

Jonathan Lewis - the creator of military themed West End hit shows, Our Boys and Soldier On will share tricks of the trade and tips to aspiring writers, producers, directors and actors…

This year at Invictus UK Trials in Sheffield every one, whether living in The City or visiting for the games, is invited to take part in a number of events with a definite focus on the arts, entertainment and above all, creativity…

One such event is a Theatre Workshop which is to be led by former soldier, actor and acclaimed playwright and director, Jonathan Lewis.    This is the workshop for all aspiring writers whether planning a one person show or keen to write an epic with a cast of thousands!

The organisers are keen to emphasise that this special event is open to veterans and their families, local drama groups and anyone interested in theatre. No experience is needed!  Lewis is at pains to emphasise this and says:

“How do you make a play?  This is an opportunity to look at the building blocks of a compelling story. If you’ve always wanted to write a play, but haven’t found the time, or run out of steam along the way, or just given up on the idea, come and join this workshop, which aims to put you back on track and inspire you into action.”

The workshop will be peppered with tips on structure, useful strategies on how and where to find stories and ideas, and how to build characters.

Lewis’ hit show, Soldier On, which last year sold out a National Tour as well as two West End theatrical runs will also be on show to anyone looking to shoot focus from the sporting to the entertainment arena at any point during the week.

Tickets for Theatre Workshop with Jonathan Lewis (subject to booking fees) at Sheffield City Hall are available online at www.sheffieldcityhall.co.uk through the ticket hotline on 0114 2 789 789 and in person at the Sheffield City Hall Box Office.
