Portraits of Distinction – Paulette Edwards
It is with great delight that we welcome BBC Radio Sheffield Presenter Paulette Edwards as the subject for the Portraits of Distinction Exhibition at Art in the Gardens.
A fantastic selection of photographs have been captured by Trevor Neal from a fabulous shoot taken with Paulette at Sheffield Botanical Gardens. The photographs are available to artists interested in entering the competition from Sheffield’s Town Hall Reception from now. Please ask to see the Portraits of Distinction photographs at the Reception Desk any time during opening hours:-
Reception open times – 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8.45am to 4.45pm Friday.
You will only be allowed to choose one photograph to work from. We are unable to post out photos except under exceptional circumstances.
You will then have until the show to produce a drawing, painting (or even a sculpture). We will accept stretched canvases without a frame (but with cord on the back so it can be hung in the usual way) but all other work must be suitably framed and with strong cord, securely tied on the back. Poor framing can spoil your hard work, and we may refuse to accept your submission, clip frames are not permitted.
The artwork must have the title, medium and price as well as your name, address and telephone number on the back. Please bring a completed form (collect with photo or download here) with your work to Art in the Gardens, Sheffield Botanical Gardens from 10am -12noon on Friday 6th September (via top entrance on Clarkehouse Road).
Please note that the winning painting is given to the subject as a thank-you for their involvement and you will not get back the price you have put on it, but we will give you as much press coverage and publicity as we can, as well as receiving your £100 winner’s cheque and hamper from Art In The Gardens.
Paulette will be coming along to the show on the Friday Preview Evening 6th Sep (6pm – 9pm), to award artists, each artist that enters a portrait will receive a complimentary Preview Invitation that admits two adults (sorry no children at the Preview Evening). If the winner is under 18, they will receive their award on the Sunday from the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, or from Paulette at a later date.
